Tokyo Day 1

Gaijin.

Faheem was in Japan last year, Rashaad went to Manila after our Middle East trip. It hadn't struck me that they had had solo trips before I had. I've been meaning to go travelling on my own ever since Saika moved to the US (and that was 5 years ago). But I don't earn money and travelling is expensive so I never did it.

I had to hug Mum twice and call Durvesh to pass time to prevent myself from hyperventilating. But here I am. Went to sleep in Kuala Lumpur and woke up in Tokyo.

It is exhilarating to do things your way and see things you want to see and spend whatever amount of time you want at a certain place (or none at all). I love family holidays but this time I really wanted to do things on my own.

So I spent half an hour in front of Van Gogh's Sunflowers which is housed in the Seiji Todo Memorial Museum on the 42dn floor of the Sompo Japan Building. No one tugged at my shirt to get me to leave. There haven't been many moments that have rooted me to a spot.

Guess what. Japanese showers are nude communal baths. Sweet. That's why I brought a swimsuit.
